What the bath actually reaches
Because the rug is fully submerged and flushed instead of surface-treated, the wash reaches the contamination buried in the foundation — not only the mark you can see on top.
Why it keeps returning
Because what you smell isn’t sitting on the surface. As urine dries it leaves alkaline crystals behind — salts that settle deep in the rug’s cotton foundation, far below the pile you’re able to blot.
Those crystals stay dormant until the damp sea air reaches them. On a humid Aventura afternoon they pull in moisture, wake up, and loose the odor all over again — which is why a spot that read as clean turns loud again a week on.
Why blotting can’t win
You can’t blot away what’s lodged in the foundation — it has to be flushed out.
Cleaning only the top of the rug never reaches the crystals beneath. The one way to truly clear them is to saturate the whole rug and rinse them away.
The unvarnished version
The straight answer is: sometimes fully, sometimes not. A single fresh accident on a stable rug usually clears completely. Years of repeated soaking in one corner is another matter: urine can weaken the foundation and even move the dyes, and no honest cleaner will promise a flawless result sight unseen.
